Anthony Haynes writes: Archives. Archives about engineering. Might not immediately set everyone’s pulse racing.
But the team who run the archive at the Institution of Engineering and Technology are exceptionally good at presenting their material engagingly.
Today’s post (13 April) is a good example. It tells a fascinating story — the history of the Society of Engineers — in concise form, attractively presented with all forms of data and realia.
Something that could sound, and be, as dry as dust becomes genuinely diverting.
Their archive blog is a great example of how a membership body can use an archive not merely to record stuff, but also engage with a wider audience.
