Anthony Haynes writes: One of the aims of this blog is show behind the scenes at FJWilson and introduce the team. Here we introduce Phil Wolfenden.
Phil: Talent Resourcer.
Q. And what does that work involve?
Phil: Once our Business Development team have taken on a role, they will brief me as to the requirements. I will then use a mixture of sources, including our database, research, networking, referrals, social media, and on-line CV boards to source suitable candidates for the role.
Having been identified as potentially suitable candidates, they will be contacted with a view to being interviewed and briefed with regard to the role.
Q. What’s the attraction of working in talent acquisition? What makes the work satisfying?
Phil: Ensuring the client is presented with the very best candidates available — and that both clients and candidates receive a professional service.
Q. What’s your background?
Phil: I started work in recruitment after graduating university in London. I worked in the City of London for ten years recruiting for major Investment banks and fund managers.
I met Fiona Wilson (Managing Director of FJWilson) when she became the UK Director of the banking and finance recruitment business “Jonathan Wren”, part of the Adecco Group. I was managing her Bristol branch.
Q. What advice would you give candidates?
Phil: Apply for roles for which you have relevant experience as this will lead to far fewer disappointments!
