Talent stories: The unmanageable star performer

Anthony Haynes writes: In our first post (‘Welcome to FJWilson Talent‘, 1 March), we said we’d use this blog for telling stories — stories about talent, its acquisition and management, and human capital.

What do we mean by stories? The best way we can answer that is by showing the kinds of stories we like. Each day this week we’ll introduce you to a narrative that we’ve enjoyed reading concerning talent.

First up is a story, genuinely written as a story (credit to Abhishek Goel for the welcome creative writing skills!) concerning Vijay, the employee who works has a magical effect on numbers — but a less than magical effect on colleagues.

The story was published on the Harvard Business Review blog (14 February) and is available here.
